We store our water at home in our Minox Stainless Steel Water Dispenser Fusti which holds 25 Liters / 6.6 Gallons. Even the spigot is stainless steel, which is important to me because at no point does plastic come in contact with our water. I don’t like the idea of getting a ceramic, steel or glass water container if the spigot is plastic. Defeats the purpose of trying to go plastic free. I got our water dispenser from WaterCheck.biz for about $260. Yes, it’s expensive. But it’s a lifetime purchase for me.

Don’t buy any coconut milk or cream in the carton or canned. Both have a plastic lining. Even if it says BPA free, it’s still plastic. It will leach chemicals into your food.

Find a young coconut, try to find ones with no black spots (mold) on them. If it has a little it’s ok. Just make sure to use it right away. The reason why you want a young coconut vs a mature coconut is because the young coconut will be completely full of delicious coconut water.

This is a Vitamix or Blendtec high powered blender alternative that’s actually plastic free! Apparently there are not any high powered blenders with a glass container sadly. So other than plastic holding up to that stress, the only other option that I could find, was one with a stainless steel container made by Waring commercial products. It’s called the Waring MX1200XTS 3.5HP Blender w/Variable Speed, with the 64 Oz Stainess Steel Container. It’s pricer than the Vitamix & Blendtec. It’s listed on Amazon for about $534.95 with free shipping last I checked.

It was a big battle against the plastic industry to prove to the public that BPA was not safe. Even after that it’s still used in many products like the lining of canned foods, paper cartons, bottles, etc. It’s shocking how many things have a plastic lining. The best replacement is glass. Other options are ceramics or metal which are not coated with plastic.

But wait, if it’s BPA free, it’s safe right? Wrong.

Beth Terry from MyPlasticFreeLife.com writes:

Now, a University of Texas study published in July 2011 in Environmental Health Perspectives confirms that hormone-disrupting chemicals leach from almost all plastics, even BPA-free plastics.
